About RateMate
Why RateMate Exists
RateMate started the way a lot of side projects do - out of frustration.
When it came time to refix a home loan, the experience was surprisingly painful. What rates are actually available right now? Should the loan be split? How do the numbers compare across banks? There wasn't a single tool that answered these questions without a spreadsheet marathon.
So RateMate was built to solve that problem. It started as a personal tool to crunch refix numbers, and quickly grew into something more - a free, independent calculator for anyone in New Zealand navigating a mortgage decision.
What RateMate Does
Getting a mortgage is one of the biggest financial decisions most New Zealanders will make. Yet comparing home loan rates and understanding the true cost of different options can be surprisingly difficult.
RateMate makes mortgage planning transparent, accessible, and free. It's not here to sell you anything or push you toward a particular bank - just to help you see the numbers clearly before you talk to a professional.
What Makes RateMate Different
- Live Daily Rates: We fetch real mortgage rates from major NZ banks daily, so you're always comparing current offers.
- Side-by-Side Comparison: See rates from ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac, Kiwibank, SBS, and TSB all in one place.
- Advanced Features: Model split loans, offset accounts, and extra payments to see the true impact on your mortgage.
- Shareable Reports: Generate detailed comparison summaries to discuss with your partner, broker, or advisor.
- Completely Free: No hidden fees, no sign-up required, no personal information collected.
